Why get a home inspection?
A home is likely the biggest purchase you will make. An inspection helps you understand what you're buying before you commit.

What an inspection gives you
Some buyers spend as little as 15 minutes looking at a house before deciding to buy it. An inspection is the time to stop and take a close look at the parts of the house you can't judge on a walk-through.
Know what you're buying
Water heater, plumbing, foundation, furnace, A/C and attic: you learn the condition of the systems and components, not just how the rooms look.
Understand repairs and costs
Mike tells you what needs repairing and about how much it will cost. Sometimes the cost isn't so scary and you're comfortable paying for it yourself.
Negotiate with confidence
If the seller is participating in the cost of repairs, a thorough report gives you specifics to discuss. If not, at least you know what you're getting into.
Learn how the house works
When you walk along, you can ask questions and see how the systems operate. As Mike puts it, it's more than an inspection, it's an education.
Spot safety concerns
An inspector with a construction background knows what to look for that could be costly to repair or even dangerous to your family.
A clear record
A written report with color photos and arrows documents the condition of the home on the day of the inspection.
Pre-sale inspections
Find the issues first, so there are fewer surprises once your home is under contract. You can decide what to fix and what to disclose, instead of reacting to a buyer's list.
No house is perfect
Houses are like people: none are perfect, they all have defects. An inspection can minimize your risk but cannot eliminate it, and it reports the visible and apparent condition on the day of the inspection, not future conditions.
Mike never condemns a property. Many people buy fixer-uppers to save money, so he lists the items that need attention. Everything is fixable.
